11 May THE FAMOUS GROUSE EXPERIENCE SHORTLISTED FOR DISTILLERY VISITOR EXPERIENCE AWARD
Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, home to The Famous Grouse Experience, has been shortlisted for the Distillery Visitor Experience Award by influential whisky writer and World Whisky Day Founder, Blair Bowman, in Scottish Field’s 2017 Whisky Challenge.
Scotland’s oldest working distillery, which welcomes over 80,000 visitors every year, has previously been crowned Best Visitor Experience by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) in 2016, firmly placing it as one of Scotland’s top visitor attractions. The five-star attraction prides itself on being the only place in Scotland to still produce malt whisky using the traditional hand mashing process used when the distillery first opened in 1775.
Visitors are invited to enjoy one of the unique whisky experiences on offer; from tasting to blending to warehouse experiences. Wilde Thyme at Glenturret entices visitors in with their selection of café snacks or the chance to sample some delightful afternoon tea, leaving through The Famous Shop for the chance to bottle their very own whisky on the way out.
Stuart Cassells, General Manager at The Famous Grouse Experience, said:
“It is great news to be shortlisted for Best Visitor Experience Award, testimony to the hard work and dedication of our WorldHost recognised team in welcoming tens of thousands of visitors every year. For Blair Bowman to recognise the world-class venue we have here at Glenturret distillery and the fantastic whisky experiences on offer is a real honour. Everybody has their fingers crossed here!”
The winner will be announced in October at the annual whisky awards lunch.
